The church of Christ at Penngrove |
|
Who are we?We are a church of Christ, striving to be nothing more or less. That means:
Our members are simply Christians who live in the communities of Rohnert Park, Cotati and Petaluma, and who meet together to worship and work in Penngrove, in central Sonoma County. In our work together, we seek to do everything that Gods word commands and nothing He has not authorized. That simply means we look to the Bible as our one and only source of authority. If the Bible teaches us to do something whether by direct command of Jesus or His inspired apostles, an example approved in the early church by the apostles, or by an inescapable conclusion drawn from either of these we believe we should do it. If the Bible does not instruct us, in one of these three ways, to do something, we dont have authority from God for it so we dont do it. The Bible tells us there are four things we can do collectively as a local church:
Were diligently working to do all of these things according to the instructions of the Scriptures. Since the Bible does not authorize us as a church to provide entertainment, engage in social or political programs, raise funds by means other than the free-will offerings of our members, spend our collective treasury on secular activities, or surrender our local autonomy to another church or organization, we dont do any of these things. When you visit us, youll find a small but dedicated group of people people like you trying to live as disciples of Jesus Christ by reading, understanding, and obeying His word. Wed be delighted to have you join us for worship and Bible study. If you have any questions about what we do or dont do well be pleased to answer them from the Scriptures (1 Peter 3:15). Heres a list of frequently asked questions about the Lords church and what the Bible teaches. |

Go
into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15-16) |
