GOD’S WISDOM VS. THE WORLD’S WISDOM

In order to clearly see and appreciate God’s wisdom it is helpful to contrast it to the world’s wisdom.
God’s Wisdom
Eternal- Psalms 147:5-6 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (6) The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
Romans 11:33-34 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! (34) “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
Wonderful-Psalms 139:1-6-For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. (2) You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. (3) You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. (4) Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. (5) You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. (6) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Nothing is Hidden from God’s Eyes- Hebrews 4:13- Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
God Demonstrates His Wisdom Through the Gospel- 1 Corinthians 2:6-7 -We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. (7) No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD
IS FOOLISHNESS TO GOD- 1 Corinthians 1:20 – Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
WISDOM THAT KNOWS NOT GOD-1 Corinthians 1:21-For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
CONSIDERS THE GOSPEL FOOLISHNESS-1 Corinthians 1:18- For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Thank God we enjoy the privilege of worshipping and serving a most wonderful, powerful, wise God who, by His grace allows us to become wise. All we have to do is humble ourselves, ask, and be willing to learn from our Heavenly Father. James 1:5-6- If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (6) But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
