Without God’s truth God’s people as well as all mankind are in serious trouble! A conscious decision by God’s people to ignore God’s truth and do what was right in their own judgment led to chaos. Judges 21:25- In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
As children of God we strive to worship God in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. (24) God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Naturally, without God graciously revealing His truth to us we could never enjoy the privilege of worshiping Him in spirit and truth. We would be deprived of the knowledge of truth according to God which would make it impossible to live a Godly life that brings honor and glory to our Father in heaven. Psalms 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
We are challenged to obey God’s truth in order to become a Christian and purify our souls. 1 Peter 1:20-23- He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you (21) who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. (22) Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, (23) since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
We’re also challenged to speak truthfully to everyone. Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. As Christians God’s expectations of us are even higher than simply speaking the truth, He also expects us to “speak the truth in love.”
Ephesians 4:15-16 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (16) from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
