Our faith brings to us the blessings of God: The forgiveness of sins is only found through faith in Jesus Christ. Peter made this clear when he preached the first gospel sermon and it’s still true today. Acts 2:38-39- Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
God has blessed us with the gift of the Holy Spirit Peter preached about. It’s given to us as a “down payment” until our promise of eternal life is realized. Eph. 1:13-14- And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (14) who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory. The Holy Spirit is available to all but only given to those who respond in faith to the good news of the gospel. Gal. 3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. The challenge for us is to remain faithful to God and not grieve the Holy Spirit. Eph. 4:30 – And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Our faith gives us the gift of peace with God that can only be found in Christ. Rom 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (2) through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. It’s a peace this world can never offer or understand. Phil. 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
God intends for us to experience live a joyful life of faith. Rom 15:13- May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The hope of spending eternity with God. 1 Pet. 1:8-9 -Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, (9) for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Eternal Life. John 3:16-17 -For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (17) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Eternal Life is ONLY found In Christ. 1 Jn. 5:11-13- And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (12) Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (13) I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
